We are looking for an Operations Manager for our Animal Feed Factory in Qatar; a division of Al Rawda Farm which was established in 2020, to produce local/ Qatari high quality eggs, in line with the country’s self-sufficiency plan. The farm produces premium quality eggs that are pesticide-free, antibiotic-free, and hormone-free. Our farm is located in the Lejmailiya area north of Qatar.

About the role

  • The Operations manager will report to the General Manager to provide strategic insight and direction to all aspects of the manufacturing operations and supply chain across.
  • More specifically the Operations manager will lead manufacturing, supply chain, quality, health & safety and procurement and will have direct technical responsibility and leadership to proactively manage the production facilities, the people in the feed mill in order to achieve the key performance indicators; achieve efficiency through good analysis, strategic planning and dedicated to hard work.; creatively develop the annual production goals and strategy into a technical plan for the coming years.

About You

To be successful in this role you will need a strong understanding of feed mill manufacturing operations, feed mill maintenance, feed nutrition formulation and raw material sourcing.

Naturally a team player, your collaborative approach will allow you to gain the confidence of your team and you won’t be afraid to be hands on.
  • This role has P&L responsibility so you will have a high level of commercial nous, but a pragmatic approach. An ability to create value add change initiatives and a best practice operational landscape is key to success.

Plant Operations Duties:

  • Lead operations, distribution, and warehousing in accordance with policies and principles.
  • Collaborate with sales and representatives of associated industries to evaluate and promote growth.
  • Plan the production to meet sales volumes and quality requirements
  • Monitor closely all raw material operations (bulk supply, bag supply, container supply,..)
  • Responsible for production costs and product quality, maximize yields, modify production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation.
  • All finished product controls and storage.
  • Monitors and takes necessary action to ensure safe work conditions exist.
  • Maintain the Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Semi-Annual Operations/Industrial Reports
  • Assist the finance department in the preparation of AR’s for implementation into the AR system.
  • Address other organizational issues and tasks from time to time as necessary.

Maintenance Duties

  • Develop preventative maintenance plan to limit emergency electrical & mechanical maintenance and downtime.
  • Perform Maintenance and Repairs – Preventative and Unscheduled
  • Responsible for the integrated pest management strategy and supervision of the pest control measures

Quality Control Duties (Raw Material and Final Product)

  • Lead, develop and optimize formulation solutions with internal and external resources to ensure utilizing the most competitive raw material in formulation. Ensure the qualified raw materials and output of production in line with formulation design.
  • Determine standard for types of products being produced and ensure that the production is producing as per the standard.
  • Prepare monthly cumulative reports that will compare the actual production results to the approved standards.
  • Control raw materials including wheat, maize, bran, additives, packaging, spare parts, fuel and other supplies.
  • Achieve the finishes of the PLC migration projects of feed mill and silos.

Cost Control Duty

  • Analyze the cost per unit of production and proactively ensure that all maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely way.
  • Control of packaging, raw materials, additives, spare parts, fuel, water and tools inventory and stock.
  • Responsible for the order and control of inventory of goods and items for the operation of the production facility.

Safety Duty

  • Ensure the safety of the feed mill plant, people, and the product with a detailed safety plan.

Management Duties

  • Manage assigned personnel in performance of their duties including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, training, evaluation, scheduling work activities, discipline and discharge.
  • Establish and monitor individual and team goals with are aligned with the Organization’s business strategies and objectives.

Administration Duties

  • Analyzes, develops, and prepares the plant operating expense budget, monitoring and investigating discrepancies as situations arise.
  • Prepares weekly reports for review by senior management.
  • Ensures compliance with all local regulations and requirements, as required, including environmental.
