To provide thought leadership and best practices with respect to operational risk management and business continuity management across the organization by developing and implementing comprehensive integrated operational risk program.
Supervision of Subordinates:
▪ Organise and supervise the activities and work of subordinates to ensure that all work within a specific area of the activity is carried out in an efficient manner which is consistent with operating procedures and policy.
▪ Provide on-the-job training and constructive feedback to subordinates to support their overall development.
Strategy, Policies, Systems & Procedures:
▪ Develop, update, and continuously improve the operational risk management strategy and business continuity frameworks and limits/tolerances in line with CBQ group’s overall risk while ensuring effective implementation of same in liaison with relevant stakeholders to support effective management of CBQ operations within the defined risk levels.
▪ Ensure effective cascading of the risk management functional strategy into operational risk management business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing functional strategies.
Operational Risk Management:
▪ Conduct thorough review of Operational Risk processes to ensure that strategic matters are adequately assessed and key risks are identified
▪ Assess the quantum operational risk, provide a view on the level of exposure relative to risk appetite and advise on risk mitigation for effective risk management.
▪ Ensure the implementation of the RCSA framework by the Business Units and provide feedback for improvement.
▪ Collect the necessary information to prepare BU level Operational Risk Dashboards
▪ Coordinate with concerned practice to ensure the development of a Business Continuity Plan as well as to ensure the adequacy of the disaster recovery plan (in coordination with IT) to facilitate optimum protection of CBQ data and systems.
▪ Maintain loss databases and provide guidance on the data collection process to ensure adherence to established guidelines.
▪ Review frequency and seriousness of breaches and significant increases in operational risk exposure to facilitate the development of risk mitigation measures.
▪ Coordinate the review of major IT systems and software to identify potential operating risks and ensure adequate controls are in place.
▪ Perform a periodical review of the bank’s products and processes and provide risk mitigation controls to facilitate optimum protection of CBQ’s business interests.

▪ Motivate subordinates and peers and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:
▪ Recommend improvements to departmental procedure and direct the implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment:
▪ Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures and controls within a defined area of activity to endorse employee safety, compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
MIS and Reports:
▪ Prepare departmental MIS statements and reports timely and accurately to meet CBQ and department requirements, policies and standards.
