Financial Reporting & Tax Senior Analyst - Vodafone Qatar
Role purpose:
- Accurate and timely preparation of the Financial Reporting and Management Reporting of Vodafone Qatar Q.S.C. (listed on Qatar Stock Exchange) and its subsidiaries including: all management reports (PL, BS, Cash flows etc.), Group reporting, external statutory reporting (for shareholders), legal and regulatory reporting, investor relations reporting, corporate tax returns, WHT returns, all KPIs and ad hoc requests.
- Compliance of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), review and advise on new transactions and schemes to ensure transactions are accounted for in accordance with the IFRS in the best interest of the company including the implementation of new accounting standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors for timely closure of audits / review of financial statements and review of internal control over financial reporting including securing of clean audit reports, monitor and follow up on audit observations for timely closure / resolution
- Ensure the finance operating model/processes for tax (locally, in the SSC and at Group) are maintained, reviewed and improved to ensure no misstatement of the financial records.
- Share responsibility of compliance of tax laws (both direct and indirect) ensuring Tax risks are appropriately managed and Tax opportunities are maximised to deliver value to shareholders. Provides assurance on all Tax compliance. Ensure the tax accounting and reporting of Vodafone Qatar Q.S.C. and its subsidiaries are accurate and delivered in the deadlines set.
- Preparation and finalisation of individual and consolidated statutory financial statements fully compliant with IFRS.
- Update the impact of new and revised accounting standards and draft accounting policies that are appropriate under the circumstances of the Company.
- Ensure financial records of VFQ are prepared in accordance with IFRS including review of recording of transactions to ensure compliance with IFRS.
- Review of major contracts / transaction of the Company to advise on accounting impacts and suggest options to optimise and achieve company objectives. Prepare clear and concise accounting position papers to defend such accounting position under IFRS.
- Support business partnering team by advising on accounting, regulatory and tax matters during their business case review process
- Ensure accurate and timely payment for non-routine significant transactions with Vodafone group (Partner market fee, SCM Fee, SSC charges etc.) and other regulatory payments like annual licence fee, industry fee and social and sports contribution
- Manage external auditors and work proactively to ensure a clean audit report after each statutory audit / review. Own respective actions from management letters and ensure these are closed on a timely manner and progress reported to the audit committee
- Own Financial and non-Financial reporting to regulatory authorities like Qatar Stock Exchange (QE), Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA), Ministry of Commerce, Statistical department and Communication and Regulatory Authority (CRA). Represent VFQ in front of CRA for market definition and reporting of dominance of each market defined by the regulator.
- Work cross functionally with Regulatory team to optimise the position of VFQ to take commercial advantage, especially on adhoc data requests, cost determination exercise, audit / certifications required by the CRA. Also work with Investor Relations team and represent VFQ in front of QFMA and Qatar Stock Market for any reporting related requirements.
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualified with Graduation degree.
- Years of experience: 5+ years.
- Telecoms experience: 4+ years would be plus.
- Experience in VAT and Tax Compliance would be an advantage.
